#68 IS IT THE END OF LOCAL NEWS?
The award winning photojournalist Edmond Terakopian started his career in local newspapers, as per last week’s episode in part one. He extols the virtues of the importance of local news coverage and laments the passing of so many strong titles, replaced by more commercially biased weeklies.
He asks if some national news stories may have had alternative outcomes if local newspapers had still been available to call to account those making district policy decisions.
Today’s episode, part two of three editions, is an opportunity to hear a decorated British based photojournalist talk about the state of photojournalism today, where it has been, where it is headed and more on what he believes is the silencing of our press over important issues such as Covid-19.
Today’s episode is supported by Image Salon.
