#244 COLOMBIAN CIVIL WAR; A PHOTOGRAPHIC ‘LEARNING GROUND!’

Jason P. Howe did not go to college to study photojournalism, yet he has been widely recognised for his work covering conflict and civil war by peers at the highest level. Working in a photographic shop for the best part of a decade, he decided to sell everything he owned and departed for Colombia with fifty rolls of film and a Leica rangefinder camera to 'get stuck in and learn as he went along.' The result is his book Colombia 'Between the lines,' a determined story dedicated to the people of Colombia and their search for peace.

Patron of the Day today is Jens Rhode, I like that he refers on his website to his work as photographic sketches. Don’t expect, as he says, “For this to be a portfolio. There will be all kind of photographs. Some more planned and edited from my walkabouts with the camera, small improvised setups from my desk with model figures (not all Zoom meetings are equally engaging) and on other days it could be a new piece of pottery my wife has made, or some interesting light on the wall. In short, no firm plans.”  Joining Patreon is easy and from the price of one high street coffee per month, Patrons are so important to helping maintain a future for this cast. To thank them, all patrons get to hear the extra MORE editions, which on Thursdays include my photographic diary essay and also the new BOOK CLUB which you can hear on the very easy to download Patreon app.

We’re also supported by MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe and here’s two reasons why you can trust them for your picture making. One: Peace of mind when you’re buying in the form of a guarantee and two: money in your bank quickly when you sell. So if you want to buy, sell or trade used gear and be part of the ever important circular economy, MPB.com is a great place to do business.
