#405 PHOTOWALK: YOUR STYLE, YOUR GENRE, YOUR BRAND, IS YOU

FEATURING YOUTUBER AND PSYCHOTHERAPIST KARIN MAJOKA

Today's guest Karin Majoka is a visual artist, photographer, YouTube content creator and psychotherapist based in Germany. Her short films bring tuition, travel and personal stories together with an underlying love for film photography. Letters and stories today from the mailbag feature; returning to scorched lands of this summer’s cruel wildfires in Nova Scotia to find a welcome gift from Mother Nature, the 'set' of The Shining, and the dribbly-nosed child, we take some feedback from last week’s show about the peace episode, a 'Wish you were here' postcard from a 'beautiful' dark alleyway in Australia and what railway model enthusiasts like Tom Hanks share with photographers.

Email your stories, thoughts, and pictures to the show. If you can optimize/resize photos to 2,500 pixels wide, that’s always much appreciated. If you’d like to support this show and have access to further content and the midweek Extra Mile show, we’d welcome you as an EXTRA MILER. There’s also our thriving Facebook group, a safe place to meet and talk with photographers of all interests, plus the show is featured on Instagram, VERO and X.

As well as our Extra Milers, we’re also supported by our incredible friends at MPB.com who have believed in this show from the get-go; the number one platform in the UK, US and Europe (with bases in Brighton, Brooklyn and Berlin) when it comes to buying, trading or selling quality used kit online. They help us as photographers to tell our unique stories by providing a safe place to buy, trade and sell the kit we need and in doing so, we become a part of the sustainable circular economy. With guarantees upon kit purchased, buy used, spend less and get more at MPB.com.

RANDY BULLERWELL

Randy Bullerwell finds that nature is beginning to return already to an area savaged by wild fires earlier in May this year, in Nova Scotia.

WISH YOU WERE HERE: COLIN MAYER

From Colin Mayer: Spent the morning wandering aimlessly around the local streets on Melbourne, listening to the show. You need to keep your eyes open to avoid getting hit by a tram. Clothes shops, sushi shops, and coffee shops everywhere yet here I find myself lost, at the end of the world. Wish you were here!

WISH YOU WERE HERE: DAVID HIGTON

From David Higton: Managed a day trip to Chesterland on Tuesday to have a look at the Pete Waterman Making Tracks 3 model railway display at Chester Cathedral. Very impressive at 64ft long and saw interesting people. Wandered around and took in the Town Crier at noon followed by a pint and a cheese & pickle sandwich at a pub nearby the river.  Had a Cornish ice-cream by the river watching the boats before heading back along the city walls.  There were some interesting people around, weather held good and the trains home was punctual although Crewe Station always feels cold and drafty to me. Bill and Mike say, “Hi.” Wish you were here,  David

NEALE JAMES

During the show today, early on, I talk about the corridors within a Swiss lakeside hotel, a place, reminiscent of a scene in The Shining, to me at any rate, above. Sketchbook photographs from my walk in Bowdown Woods below.
