#140 DISCOS, MIKE TYSON & THE DIVING HORSE!
An American photographer who mastered the art of telling photographic stories as series studies. Andy Warhol helped and inspired his Disco series of the 70s, he photographed Mike Tyson before he was, well, Mike Tyson for the Boxing series and his American Moments two parter featured scenes of life in the States that no longer exists.
Toby Old, former conscript soldier for a short while, former dentist for a little longer and professional photographer for far longer and that’s a good thing, because as much as I’m sure he’d have been a credit to the art of pulling teeth, he’s been a shining light to art of making series photographic stories.
Toby Old’s work and studies are an important historical American archive, curated by learning how to see the long tail story. If you’re looking to make a project, this is the photographer to listen to.
Today's show is kindly supported by MPB who are the number one platform for buying, selling and trading used gear. Right now if you have kit that is collecting dust somewhere, it's time to think about putting it to good use by receiving money for it and putting that camera or lens in to the hands of someone who will use it and every time you sell, or buy or trade kit, MPB will plant a tree, it's all part of driving the circular economy. Go to mpb.com... what is lingering in your closet you no longer need?
