#239 PHOTOWALK: URBAN EXPLORATION, POTHOLING & OTHER STORIES

The podcastsphere photography mailbag show. Your ideas and thoughts about making photographs whilst we take in a countryside walk. It's a photowalk and you're invited to come along. This week, an invite to pothole, more abandoned buildings to photograph, exploring history, Belgian waffles in the sun, spiritual homes and close up wildlife. Our guest inspiration includes stories about Tibet, African lions, finding Chicago and smuggling photos from a conflict zone. We also hear from next week's guest Ryan Vizzions, who shares his love of van-lifing with a camera across America. See the show pictures below.

The show is brought to you by the most amazing team of people, our Patrons, who invest what they feel is right for them from as modest as £3 a month, the super heroes who keep a show afloat, as there IS no large broadcast network. We’re also grateful for the support from MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe. And you’ll hear one of our writers today has a good story about using them for a complete kit swap of late.

FURTHER REFERENCE: Abandoned Nordic URBEX, Abandoned America, TIDphotography, Jason P Howe, the Chattri Memorial, Tim Rudman, Frank Woodward, Tom Stoddart’s Wednesday appearance from episode 238, Barry Butler talks about Landscape Journalism, Marissa Roth from episode 232, George Logan talks about the African Lions, the Photography Daily Facebook Group and an invitation to join our Patrons.

Matthias Focks in Germany takes an URBEX photowalk to an abandoned hospital, which last saw patients in 2006. In that time it has some strange and varied visitors it would seem!

FIRST THING THAT YOU SEE feature. Left to right: Mike Miller (sunset), Erlend Lillebø (forklift loading), Elliot Thomas (view from the car), Eric DeLorme (snaking path), Dionissi Lychnos (bathroom), Dave (from the cab of his 18 wheeler!) and Rev. Carlos Quijano (industrial scene and leaf).

Mike South’s story pictures covered in today’s show, a view of the wind turbines out to sea and Brighton’s Chattri War Memorial.

Dennis Skyum’s sweet tasting barbarian walk in Jutland!

Richard Yarp’s X100F adventure in the Woodlands of Texas.

My own shots as I wandered with the mailbag. The horses turned their backs as you’ll hear.
