365:94 MATT SEARLES
After heading out for last night’s G3 Solar Storm I thought I’d share this photo for the 365. Bit of blurb for you: Self portrait under the Southern Lights, NZ. I’ve had a bit of a thing for astrophotography for a wee while now and if the conditions are in the Goldilocks zone, ie not too late at night, not too far from home, and not too cold, then I’ll pack up a bag of gear and head out to see what’s in our dark New Zealand sky. Last night we were treated to a G3 solar storm, meaning a good chance of almost naked eye aurora even here at 44ºS. Luckily, the camera caught it all, including myself, taking in the view.
