365:276 JOHN MILLAR

Attached is a copy of an image of a Robin I'm calling "on the lookout" for your consideration to use in the community 365. The title I thought suited well as he/she was perched on the fence looking around until making the move to get food. We have had a flourish of activity with a small family of Robins, 2 adults and 3 young in all that are "regulars" to frequent our garden. We discovered the other day by watching them for some time that they had chosen a corner of our garden to build their nest!

We have the usual bird feeders many of us put out in our gardens and noticed recently the Robins were very active getting food. The 3 young fledglings had flown the nest, and were having a go at feeding themselves, but requiring some help from the adults. Perhaps the most interesting part was the adults showing the young how to get food from a feeder by hovering under it. Quite remarkable to watch them at work, and I'd say fascinating and calming too.

I have a few more pictures on my Instagram feed (no pun intended) of the Robins’ activity. I'm trying to include a little more of them on there, which also helps with my 365, and also shows you don't have to go far to get something interesting in front of the lens!

See more of John’s work on Instagram.
