Today is our Thomas’ 12th birthday and, well, here he is, in his happy place, which this time is the Severn Valley Railway, Worcestershire and Shropshire. My father, his grandfather, who Thomas sadly did not get to meet, loved the railways, in particular the heritage societies that operate the length and breadth of this country. He passed on that love to me and I like to believe that in some way I’ve been responsible in part for keeping that passion alive in young ‘Bubs.’ I think the two of them would have loved their time together, being enthused about the golden age of steam and sticking their heads out of the carriage window (despite the sign that advises otherwise), taking facefuls of soot with the wind and sun in their faces. One day I just know he’ll fufill all our dreams, and ride the footplate as a driver. Just make sure it’s an engine bearing the letters GWR Thomas?

I usually accompany a picture with the photographer’s Instagram or website details, though today I want to publish his, so you can see his work. Photography is about enthusiasm, it’s about passion, it’s about wanting to share what you see and I’m proud to see him doing that too. x
