#13 MOMENTUM, OPTIMISM AND DARKROOMS

An exciting week to come on the Photography Daily podcast, starting with some thoughts about momentum.

Some genres can see the doors opening again. Some are waiting for those doors to open and when they do, what will they be photographing and how will they be photographing? Social distancing for portrait photographers requires an at-arms-length approach and for those who work close, that’ll be a strong learning curve. News photographers have their own challenges right now. Product photographers in some areas are reporting a return. For many though, the work stopped, dried up and the short term future carries the description of slow. But today a sense of optimism from one social photographer in Holland.

Also today, some thoughts about the on going Covid-19 concerns and anti-racism debate fuelling protests the world over following Adam Gray’s interview on Friday’s show just gone, episode 12.

And American photographer Dennis Lee talks about press photography again, but this time a retrospective, through Dennis’ eyes, a former newsman from the San Fransisco Bay area, before moving to New York, now photographing big construction projects.
