#9 IS MY CAMERA REALLY IMPORTANT?

I had an email following a YouTube film I made about kit. If there’s one thing destined to draw more trolling than almost any other kind of photography feature on that platform, that’s to pass favourable opinion on a camera.

If you dare show positive vibes about a particular brand or camera, you’re bound to inexplicably fan the flames of rage from those who follow another. It’s almost like you’ve insulted a family member, such is their disdain for anyone who could possibly be able to use equipment that doesn’t decorate the insides of their posh Billingham camera bag.

I learned long ago that you’re best not to argue back, which I find strangely easier to do than when I bicker with loved ones. We’ll undoubtedly cover the currency of likes and subscribers another time, that’s not the point of today’s Snapshot Edition.

With some help from Philip Mynott once more and Canon ambassador Helen Bartlett, today’s show focuses on what’s important when you make pictures.

This morning’s photowalk picture. Send your own to studio@photographydaily.show along with your thoughts on why you make pictures and what it means to you, plus of course a little about the photograph too.
