#61 ACCESS ALL AREAS: CUTTING ROOM FLOOR EPISODE
For those with Access All Areas membership, this weekend, an additional episode. Usually AAA episodes appear every other weekend, but this week a show featuring some recent guests and conversations that didn’t make ‘the cut.’
Here’s a rundown of the show available in the members area.
Hailey Sadler has appeared twice in the last two weeks talking of her work as a documentary photographer covering stories like the Rohingya refugee crisis. She exchanged her life working behind a desk in Washington for one that included travel interviewing and spending time with those who require a voice in the world. Covid 19 grounded her assignments for the foreseeable, but she found other ways to work it seems.
Chris Orange, a forthcoming guest for a show all about launching a food photography business talks of the Canon invention that seemingly went with the last of their film cameras.
You can’t fail to have been inspired by Ian Treherne, the self titled Blind Photographer and actually I had a chat with a good friend yesterday about the phrase, Blind Photographer. When I originally wrote to Ian, my interest had been piqued by the title, after all how could a photographer be blind? And, as per my conversation yesterday, is blind, complete, is it lights on lights off, or is it more nuanced? Ian is 95% blind, or is he 5% sighted? But I do know this, there was a moment in the interview he wasn’t entirely happy with one of the questions I’d posed. More on the show.
It’s been two or three weeks since we heard Bill Owens, the legendary American documentary photographer on the show, but as you’re about to hear, life making these shows is not as straight forward as just writing some questions and then having a chat.
A post match chat with Adam Johnson, the Manchester based wedding photographer talking about, would you believe it… Covid. Once upon a time the Brits talking together, and particularly photographers, would talk about the weather, or Brexit. Not these days, there’s always the nasty pathogen, and it’s very difficult to have a chat without talking about it.
Paul Sanders, who in an Access All Areas episode, edition number 43 talked about the calming effect of photographer, expanded on the mindful approach to working as a photographer.
