Barry Butler in our Monday FOCUS edition on business talks about the incredible work he has been doing photographing each sunrise and sunset in Chicago, but his story starts at a 'friendly' hockey game, a 'fortuitous' accident leading to a life and career making photographs that he calls landscape journalism. Patron of the Day today is Elliot Thomas with his Ricoh GR3 which I know is a favourite amongst many street photographers and here’s a link to his 365 project – there’s one on your grid in particular that had an eerie War of the World’s type feel, a black and white, exposed well for a sun breaking through the clouds creating silhouettes of what look like the kind of cranes you might find at a dockyard, but they resemble the Martian invasion ships of the latest movie, not perhaps the original flick of the 50s. I’m not sure if this was in your mind when you shot it, but that’s what I see. And I like the way you have made highlights for each month so far.
