#227 ‘THE GREATEST LONDON PHOTOGRAPHER YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF?’
The title is a quote from a Time Out special feature when they highlighted the historically important work of Charlie Phillips, a photographer with a Kodak camera he came about from an American GI, growing up in late 50s and 60s London, documenting life in the city, a viewpoint from a young man who had arrived from Jamaica with his family in '56. This docu-interview was recorded on location and covers Charlie's life, his time as a member of the Italian Paparazzi, his return to London, a struggle to get recognised and the work to rescue, organise and show his archive.

Patron of the Day today is Zeeshan Khan and I’m linking to his website where he freely admits to being addicted to chasing light, shadows, architecture marvels, human expression, and whatever else that fancies his visual appetite. You’ll find stories in colour and stories in black and white. I’m invited into a cinematic feel particularly within the Chinatown sets in your colour collections Zeeshan. From the price of one high street coffee per month, Patrons are so important to helping maintain a future for this cast. To thank them, all patrons get to hear the extra Thursday photography diary show on the easy to download Patreon app, plus there’s the benefit of broadcasting your website, projects or Instagram to thousands of photographers in our Patron of the Day mentions and become part of a unique photographic club.
We’re also supported by MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe and here’s two reasons why you can trust them for your picture making. One: Peace of mind when you’re buying in the form of a guarantee and two: money in your bank quickly when you sell. So if you want to buy, sell or trade used gear and be part of the ever important circular economy, MPB.com is a great place to do business.
