#247 FINDING PHOTOGRAPHY AGAIN & PEACE IN THE LANDSCAPE
A gentle paced story today of a highly respected graphic designer, John Brockliss who returned to photography after a move in retirement takes him from London to Brighton on the south coast of England. An author of four books, a documentary photographer, John is known for his extraordinary images of Brighton on the coast and at play, but equally his stories of travel and his photographic pilgrimage walking the Camino in Europe.
Patron of the Day today is Christine Bird and I think we’re staying on theme with today’s choice of patron as Christine’s grid shows the world at walking pace too; observations of the flora in the wild changing by the season, and fauna, if I can count your dog Toby who is not shy of taking the limelight. Joining Patreon is easy and from the price of one high street coffee per month, patrons are so important to helping maintain a future for this cast. To thank them, all patrons get to hear the extra MORE editions, which on Thursdays include my photographic diary essay and the BOOK CLUB. This week I’ve selected a book called ‘The Fat Baby’, stories by Eugene Richards. In the diary segment, I’m nervous, in a piece I’ve called ‘Dodging Bullets’, because after all my excitement at getting back in the seat for my social photography and wedding work, there is a little uncertainty my peers and I have found about working safely in a pandemic.
And here’s a question; is there a piece of camera kit in a cupboard, in one of those camera bags you’ve not looked in for a while or tucked in a drawer; a lens, a flash, a camera – that you just haven’t used lately? For some reason you’re holding on to it, but you don’t know why, or you’d forgotten you even had it. Well, now is the time to turn that old kit into cash. If you are in the US, Europe or the UK and you can spare just a few minutes, because that’s all it takes, go to MPB.com and sell it using the simple process on the front page. You’ll end up with cash, that you can either pocket or of course trade on the site for kit you’d rather have instead.
