#211 A WOUNDED LANDSCAPE, THE KICKSTARTER SUCCESS STORY
Today the extraordinary Kickstarter book project by a British commercial photographer, Marc Wilson; A Wounded Landscape, Bearing Witness to the Holocaust, based around 22 Holocaust survivor stories, a project that has a most gentle nature and revealing serendipity at times. For many photographers, Kickstarter is a route to publish and I also talk with Marc about his experience using this method.
Patron of the Day today is Kent Johansson. Based in Luxembourg, Kent’s grid is an eclectic guide to his time with a camera, there’s a wonderful forest in dappled light, I spied that back street from your visit to Versailles which I hope you have printed, there’s shadow play, city scapes and the quiet of a solitary red chair in your back yard which you’ve entitled breathing space. See, that is what collating your life on Instagram is all about.
We’re also supported by MPB.com, the number one platform for buying, selling and trading used camera gear with offices and warehouses now in Brighton UK, Brooklyn USA, and now Berlin for Europe. Hot off the press, one of our Patrons Jan Erik Moström contacted me yesterday. He was just about to buy a used micro four thirds camera from mpb.com: “A lumix GM1,” he says, “Because it's one of the smallest DSLRs ever made (at least for the m43 system). I got a GM5 but I want it's little brother,” and he included some pictures he made with that camera – so obviously this is one to pocket when you travel.
Tomorrow, a Patreon MORE edition that is available to all listeners. If you’d like to listen to it, be sure to click HERE.
