#232 SHOOTING YOUR BIG LIFE CHANGING PHOTO PROJECT

Pulitzer prize winner Marissa Roth returns to chat with me about a photographic trip to Tibet from which she produced the book Infinite Light that changed her life and 'saved her photography.' If you’ve thought about making a journey like this, today is an episode peppered with creative, mental and practical advice on how to go about making your BIG life changing photo project. We talk about making pictures in a country where the average elevation is the best part of 15,000 feet, tackling the politics and why she'll never return. We also talk about travelling with an open mind and heart and go behind the scenes to learn more about producing a book.

Patron of the Day today is Katy Docking who within her website pages shares similar thoughts on something we were discussing last week; showing the everything. From Katy, “In a world where everyone is trying to show their best life on social media, the everyday parts of life often get forgotten. But that's the bit that fascinates me the most. I love the little details of life. Those things we take for granted, that when we look back, create a sense of nostalgia for times gone by. And since today we’re talking about how life fulfilling and enriching photo projects can be, this is the perfect patron of the day moment to introduce you to Katy’s latest project called Remote Photography. We’re also supported by MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe and I think it’s important to add that it’s a service I personally use. I’ve bought used camera gear through them because I like the idea of a guarantee, I’ve sold kit I no longer use through them and I’ve traded gear in against equipment I really want to add to my kit bag. They make every step of the journey fair and easy and that is why I keep going back to them.
