#182 THE 9AM ‘SELFIE’ FOR 40 YEARS!

American photographer Nancy Floyd talks of 'Weathering Time,' a special self portrait project spanning almost four decades featured in international press as the book is launched. We also address how street photography helps one photographer to find his peace in a world gone mad and learn about a 365 project taking flight. Patron of the day today from our wonderful supporters on Patreon who have a Tuesday and Thursday edition which is a real collection of personal thoughts and extra bits from guests to inspire, is Elliot Thomas. He’s currently doing a 365 photo challenge with his beloved Ricoh GR3 camera. See his work on Instagram: @egt_photo365 with his main account being @elliotthomasphoto. What I love most about the Insta project is it is so new that you’re literally in at the start, the genesis. He started 27 days ago on a brand new account with as you can image a select number of people initially following. And that’s the beauty of a project that takes flight gradually. My favourites so far; day four, the dinosaurs and day sixteen, Cox’s Yard Pigeons, with a row of birds silhouetted and one renegade daring to take flight. I’m not sure what that looks like as a print, but that is wall art.

Thank you also to the wonderful people at MPB.com for their unswerving support over the last few months in supporting this show. It has been a fantastic opportunity to share some of your blog posts and link with some of the guests who have been a feature within them. MPB buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the U.S., the U.K. and Europe and I use them myself. In the studio is a speedlight I bought just after Christmas. It's important that you know I trust these people myself as a working professional. I want my kit to just work when I need it to, to be of a standard that my paying customers would expect. If I buy used, it's because I know there is quality checked kit that will work as well as the products I buy new from a shelf - and I know that this is a sustainable way to buy and I love that I've driving the circular economy too. Plus talking of sustainability, remember my story about buying a lens recently? It came with a note about the packaging. It said; 'Each year, MPB saves 1,200 football pitches' worth of plastic bubble wrap by using recycled packaging. It's a small change that adds up to a big difference.’ I’ve been genuinely proud that they have been here at the start of our journey.
