#221 TAKE A PICTURE, TELL A STORY, IN COUNTY JAIL!
'Take a Picture, Tell a Story' is American photojournalist Robert Gumpert’s thirteen and a half year project in County Jails where he makes a portrait, then sits with each inmate to audio record the sound of them talking about life, their experiences in prison, family and whatever else they should want to say. The conversations were always conducted in private away from Deputy's ears. The idea was simple; the exchange of prints for a story. Hear how the project was made and excerpts from those who shared.
Our Patron of the Day today is Nick Norris, the Bokeh Bard, this is his Instagram – and where do I start? The grid is a real collection of literal blood, sweat and grit in places. Your website bio probably says it best: ‘BokehBard is an alliterated theme and body of work created by professional photographer Nick Norris. Based in Northeast Florida, Nick specializes in crafting a story through documentation and vivid inspiration. The goal is to evoke emotion and reveal a hidden secret in the people he photographs.’ We reference today one particular picture within his Insta grid; the man with the transistor radio.
We’re also supported by MPB.com, the number one platform when it comes to trust for buying, selling and trading used camera gear with offices and warehouses now in Brighton UK, Brooklyn USA, and now Berlin for Europe. The founder, Matt Barker knew he could improve the speed, reliability and experience of trading kit online and so with his company created an easy to understand online sales site, employed product experts at base and people who actually really care about photographers in customer service. Over a quarter million creatives in the UK, Europe and the US trust MPB.com for their kit needs.
