#224 WOMEN STREET PHOTOGRAPHERS: AN INTERNATIONAL STORY
Gulnara Samoilova, a photojournalist, a documentarian, a curator, a street photographer and now an editor with a Wednesday Photostory edition about a new book featuring 100 international Women Street Photographers. We talk about what the street genre means to her, how she curated this collection and the runaway success of the organisation created to promote the work of women street photographers worldwide. We also talk about Gulnara's own incredibly powerful work that won a coveted World Press Photo award for coverage of 9/11.
Patron of the Day today is Rob Merkestijn. He has two Instagram accounts and the one I’m highlighting this time Rob is your amazing grid of buildings, shadows, textures, patterns and colours and I have to say you have inspired me to look more closely at shapes next time I’m out with a camera. Simplicity in observation. I love it.
ALL patrons get the opportunity to join in with Patron of the Day now, so for the price of a cup of coffee per month at your fav’ high street coffee joint, you can be spreading the word about your websites and Insta, plus you also get to hear the extra two diary shows on the Patreon app. Tomorrow, I’m going to share my latest documentary photography experience of photographing a funeral and whilst that is not for everyone, I have to say it presented some really important reportage challenges, lessons and resolutions.
We’re also supported by MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe and here’s two reasons why you can trust them for your picture making. One: Peace of mind when you’re buying in the form of a guarantee and two: money in your bank quickly when you sell. So if you want to buy, sell or trade used gear and be part of the ever important circular economy, MPB.com is a great place to do business.
