#41 THE POWER OF A YOUTUBE PHOTOGRAPHY CHANNEL

Nick Page and Thomas Heaton, American and British landscape photographers respectively, talk about the power of YouTube and why the platform is so important for photographers. Both have built an impressive following within a niche genre. Is YouTube something you should consider as something to invest your time in? And what does it take to be a successful YouTube photographer?

It’s the small screen, YouTube, that we concentrate upon today. Nick Page is very much inspired in his video journey by the landscape YouTube giant Thomas Heaton from the UK, and I thought as he’s referenced it may be a good idea to get Thomas’s thoughts too on the Google owned giant. Heaton is known for his calm, easy going, approachable nature within his landscape films and an authentic ‘take me as you find me,’ manner. Nick Page too follows a similar path, his family as involved in his landscape photography travels from time to time.

So, if you’re thinking of starting a channel and believe you have something to say, I’d like to introduce you to those in the landscape genre that have made a healthy contribution, not just to their genre, but equally to a platform that has two billion users, fifty million of which are content creators, where five billion videos are viewed each day, one billion of those views from a smart phone or tablet. This is YouTube.
