365:7 CHARLES NAGY AKA HEAVY PEDALZ
Hi Neale,
First off, I LOVE the podcast. I discovered it accidentally on Spotify. Almost 2 years ago I started publishing a BMX magazine. I had a Canon T3i that I used a few times a year. Back in high school I shot and developed lot of black and white. I was in vocational school for graphic design. When I finished school, I really didn't have access to a decent camera and other interests took over.
Over the past two years I have been relearning digital photography and for BMX I relied heavily on a fisheye lens, until earlier this year. I was challenged by a fellow BMX photographer to not use a fisheye because to paraphrase him, "Everyone is a BMX photographer with a fisheye".
I am glad that I put down this fisheye lens for a few months. I don't overuse it anymore and I am becoming a better photographer because of this. When I do use it now I can really see the difference. I now shoot with a Canon 7D MKII and I am almost 100 percent shooting in manual. I also just did my first paid photography gig; I took photos of a house for a real estate website. It was a blast, I shot a baby shower for my niece as well. I'm still learning, but I now love photography more than ever.
This photo was taken at our local BMX track on a practice night.
