Storm clouds over the Clwydian Range. I made this photograph during my photography walk up Penycloddiau, North Wales, last Monday (16th May). The walk to the summit was in the blazing sun, t-shirt and factor 50 conditions, very different from this scene a little while after reaching the top.
It's probably not the best place to be in a thunderstorm, being the tallest thing on the top of the highest ground in the area, standing next to a three-legged carbon fibre lightning rod, so I quickly ran down the hill a little to get off the summit, hunkered down as small as possible and waited for the storm to pass. Further down the hill, I found this scene that interested me. I love the patterns formed by the Bilberry mounds so I stopped to make a photograph quickly before another encroaching rainstorm arrived forcing me to pack my camera away again.
