365:281 WALLACE SHACKLETON

Waking at 3am and on the road by the back of six, today was THE day that I was going to sail on the last turntable ferry over the sea to Skye. The first time that I tried was BC (Before Covid). I got as far as the slipway only to find that my darling had raided my wallet and they didn't take cards; there are no mobile phone connections in Glenelg. The second time, I managed to use one of my "nine-lives" on the way up by narrowly missing a deer, avoiding becoming a statistic by hard emergency braking on a dual carriageway. This time I arrive at the slipway to find the boat has mechanical troubles that eventually cancelled the day’s sailings. But what a day to make a 385-mile round trip to such a beautiful part of the world.
