I took this photo as part of my recent Thelwall photowalk, but kept it aside for use as a one-off. The bridge, one of just a few along the Bridgewater Canal, was built about 1770 and is a listed building of historic significance. The Listed Buildings website provides comprehensive information about the bridge and the canal - which was the forerunner of the canal-building boom.
