#11 YOU SHOOT WHAT?!
About a month ago I received a verbal warning from a photographer who’d been but blocks away on the day Black Hawk was downed for real, who had the privilege to be considered for a while at least Nelson Mandela’s personal photographer, and who Clint Eastwood turned to when he was looking for a set photographer in an upcoming blockbuster.
He chastised me for running down my own photography work, or more specifically my genre, as if it weren’t perceived by my peers as important as press, fashion or a.n.other.
He was being generous I thought with his advice and his words rang true.
Today’s episode featuring the talented photojournalist Paul Rogers, we discuss finding a genre, that topic you feel you know inside out. Do you choose it, or does it, choose you?
